i think i'm turning japanese i really think so

current obsession: obi belts. (now if only i actually owned one, or--for that matter--had ever actually seen one in real life.) dries van noten had a bunch of gorgeous belts in his spring/summer collection:













since i had never seen the backs of them i had no idea how the wrapping was going on, but i found some ebay auctions for obis that show how an (uglier) obi is tied.












now that i understand how it's done, this might make for a fun project.

incidentally, the rest of dries van noten's spring/summer show is gorgeous.












although his fall/winter show is, unfortunately, often drab and unflattering.
